Weekend in San Francisco
This is from a recent weekend in San Francisco. This video was taken over of two days in which I covered over 25 miles on foot mostly in Xero Shoes Z Trail sandals! I got a chance to stay at an awesome hostel in North Beach called the Green Tortoise which was a great home base. On the first day I went down to Pier 1 to an awesome farmers market, then hiked up to Union Square and grabbed some lunch. Afterwards I went over to AT&T park home of the Giants on my way over to Pier 48 and Sierra Nevada Breweries Beer camp event featuring over 100 breweries almost all from California.
On day two I got a chance to walk even more, first visiting Coit Tower which was just north(up a big hill) from my hostel. Then down to Lombard curving street. It was here where my camera equipment died, so I hooked up to my mobile charger and kept walking. By the time I reach Palace of Fine Arts and the edge of the Presidio it was good to go. I stopped and had a snack got some shots of the beach with the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz in the background. Afterwards I headed over to Fishermans Wharf and Ghirardelli Square. The trolleys were just as I remembered, pretty, but always delayed.
At this time I start thinking of going back to the hostel, but I had one filming mission left. Chinatown. I practically ran there, legs sore, yet somehow I kept going. Got the shots I needed on the crowded streets full of locals and tourists. Got back to my hostel and grabbed my bags from storage and headed for the BART station. Took the train across The Bay to Oakland and walked to the Amtrak station catching the train home.
San Francisco while close to home for me being only two hours away from my home in Sacramento still amazes every time I visit. It is truly a great American city.
